This publication collects thirteen essays on different aspects of typography, each written by a student of the Master in Type Design at ECAL in 2024. Rather than being displayed one after another, all the themes are interwoven throughout the publication. Each image from every essay occupies a whole page, and the images are arranged in order of the amount of ink on each page. This treatment naturally creates connections and comparisons between all the themes.
The essays themselves are each printed on a small signature, which is not bound in a fixed position inside the book; instead, each is initially placed where the first image of its essay appears, and can be removed from the publication and read alongside it. This creates a reading experience that is ever-evolving and does not follow a linear narrative, encouraging the reader to explore each theme in an ever-changing broader context.
